On the Lack of Conscious Thought

Are we really thinking, or merely responding?

Most people only think when they have to, which is a shame because in the meantime, they develop a myriad of unconscious premonitions through the absorption of thoughts, interpretations, and mentalities they hear from friends, twitter, or powerful people on television.

Most people go their whole lives without thinking enough to even reach realization of an aspect of it, let alone a few (or even ‘many’, could u imagine how much more fruitful life would be?). On their deathbed they’ll suddenly reconcile with Christ, or grasped the true meaning of our relation to time through aging, or realize how much spending time with their children truly meant to them.

No. We’re better than that.

The point of thought is to think before you have to, before you’re forced to come to terms with the paradoxical nature of religion or the business world or political doublespeak; before you’re on your back reeling for perhaps the last time.

The point is to discover it sooner than later, so you may be more at peace with yourself for the rest of the time you have. Wouldn’t it be better to reconcile past memories and friendships, mindsets and motivations, doubts fears hopes and loves today, rather than tomorrow? Wouldn’t it be “better” to develop more meaning for ourselves and empathy towards others, now as opposed to later?

I beg of you to think before you “have to.” I beg of you to ponder, by yourself and with others, and especially your believed deepest truths or motivations. I beg of you for your own sake, that of those around you, and the world at large, for they are all connected and important. You are important, and so so worth it, so you better think about that once in a while.
